Return Damage Assessment and Deduction Policy

This policy governs the technical inspection, condition grading, and financial deduction procedures applied to returned furniture assets.

1. Return Inspection Workflow

Upon return of rented, leased, or returned retail furniture to the central warehouse:

**Intake Logging**: The asset is received into the Return Quarantine Location with an assigned Return Inspection Docket.
**Technical Assessment**: A qualified furniture technician examines structural timber, joinery, surface veneers, hardware, foam cushions, and upholstery.
**Documentary Evidence**: High-resolution photographs must be captured documenting every identified blemish, fracture, or tear.

2. Asset Condition Classification

Furniture condition is objectively classified into four standardized tiers:

**Tier 1 (Normal Wear and Tear)**: Minor, non-structural surface patina resulting from reasonable domestic usage over time. No deductions applied.
**Tier 2 (Minor Cosmetic Damage / Cleaning Required)**: Detachable dirt, food stains, pencil marks, or minor scuffs resolvable by standard showroom buffing or fabric shampooing. Standard cleaning fee deducted.
**Tier 3 (Repairable Physical Damage)**: Broken drawer channels, deep gouges in wood veneers, torn fabric cushions, or loose legs requiring workshop re-gluing. Actual material and workshop labor costs deducted.
**Tier 4 (Structural Failure / Unrepairable / Missing Modules)**: Smashed glass tops, water-bloated MDF frames, termite-infested woodwork, or unreturned components. Deducted at full replacement cost.

**Deduction Justification**: No deduction may be made from a customer's security deposit without an itemized Return Inspection Report and photographic proof.
**Transparent Costing**: Labor charges and replacement parts are billed strictly according to the published Workshop Service Schedule.
**Customer Review**: The inspection report is transmitted via the customer portal. Customers have three (3) business days to review deductions before final deposit payout.
